The brief
Chifley College Dunheved Campus' Creative and Performing Arts block had fallen behind its students: two art rooms, two music classrooms, storage and the Block C corridor with aged flooring, tired ceilings, poor acoustics and non-compliant fittings — inside a live secondary school with an asbestos register in play.
What we did
Full internal refurbishment, staged to keep the school teaching. Demolition back to structure and hazardous-material removal under SINSW asbestos processes with approved hygienists; new ceilings, services upgrades, acoustic treatment, floor finishes, joinery to issue-1 plans, and integrated learning technology — plus construction of a brand-new recording studio and sound room. Monthly WHS reporting to SINSW throughout.
The outcome
A creative arts department that performs like a purpose-built facility: acoustically treated music rooms, a recording studio that didn't exist before, art rooms with proper light and storage — delivered without losing a teaching day.
